Principal's Welcome
Dear Parents and Guardians:
Welcome to East Side Elementary School! Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Mr. Schoettmer and I am your principal! For those of you who have not met me, I have had several titles at our school corporation. I started as a Technology Assistant, then I taught 2nd grade at East Side Elementary, followed by being on the HSMS administration team for 4 years and finally coming home to be the Principal of East Side Elementary. I am very excited to work together with our families and community to make your child’s elementary experience amazing!
During the 2020-2021 school year, East Side became the only Elementary School in Johnson County to obtain STEM Certification through the IDOE. When we became STEM Certified, the Indiana Department of Education recognized us as a model for Indiana and our commitment to teaching the STEM disciplines of science, technology, engineering and math, which ultimately prepares students for success in the 21st century.
East Side Elementary School administration and staff, with the support of parents and the community, seek to provide all students the resources to gain knowledge and become lifelong learners in an environment that encourages a positive self-concept and promotes excellence. We are proud of our dedicated, experienced staff and enthusiastic learners!
Our vision is that Students are learning and growing daily with the care of a small community to maximize their potential.
As our world continues to change and the complexities of teaching children increase, it becomes more evident that we all need to work together to ensure that our children reach their potential. We believe that all of us within the school and the community must work together to ensure success for all our students.
With that in mind, you are invited to be an active participant at East Side Elementary. Whether you are a classroom volunteer, a member of the Pride Boosters, or a Community Sponsor, you are encouraged to be involved. Parent participation in your child’s school coincides with a greater likelihood of academic success for your child.
